A letter from our president

A letter from our president

We wish that you are able to see what it is like to be a Phi Mu at Ole Miss throughout our website!

Running home to the top of Sorority Row on Bid Day was one of my favorite days here at Ole Miss and there is no doubt in my mind that choosing Phi Mu is one of the best decisions I have ever made. Phi Mu is a place where endless friendships are formed and it is truly a place where everyone is their true selves.

Phi Mu is a place of genuine friendship, our organization is built on the friendships our members have with one another. Phi Mu exists to bring girls into the bond of our sisterhood where they can find compassionate women who will be in your corner for anything. The years you spend at Ole Miss will be some of the most amazing and exciting times of your life. With all the amazing moments, there will always be moments that are not so amazing. During those moments is when friendship is most important. In Phi Mu I have found the friends who are there for every big celebration and who are there for comfort in a time of need. I am positive I have found authentic friendships that I know will last a lifetime past graduation.

We are fortunate to have a diverse sisterhood with women coming from all areas of the country. All of our members have a unique personality and I have enjoyed being surrounded by them all. These women have broadened my perspective and allowed me to learn more about myself. I am lucky to be a part of such an extraordinary group of women.

Being a Phi Mu at Ole Miss is about eating breakfast at the house with your friends before going to class. It’s about seeing the joy on Mama Kim’s face when you talk to her in the house. It’s about the endless hallway conversations with your best friends when you live in the house. It’s getting to see the joy on a child’s face when you host a party for them at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital. It’s about our commitment to our values, Love, Honor, and Truth which is the backbone of our sisterhood. Finally, it’s about seizing any opportunity to get involved and give back to our community. From Orientation Leaders, to Ambassadors, to volunteering at Grove Grocery, or raising money for RebelTHON, our sisters are involved within our campus and Oxford community. We celebrate our differences with each other because being a Phi Mu at Ole Miss is not about changing who you are, it is about being the person you have always been.

The past three years at Ole Miss and in Phi Mu mean the world and more to me. Phi Mu has given me my greatest friendships that I know will last a lifetime. I have learned what it means to be a true friend and what it looks like to have a strong support system behind you throughout anything thanks to my sisters. As a girl who came to Ole Miss from out of state, Phi Mu has given me the home away from home I dreamed of when coming to college. I hope this letter has given you a glimpse of just how much Phi Mu means to me. It is not just letters on a Bid Day jersey, it is a family that we all will hold dear to forever. We are all forever grateful for our house at the top of the row and for the hundreds of women who have chosen to be a part of this bond for a lifetime.

With Love,

“As soon as I stepped through the doors of Phi Mu I immediately felt welcomed with genuine smiles, laughter, and joy. It was then that I realized I had found a new home away from home. Joining Phi Mu has been an amazing experience and helped shape me into who I am today. I have truly met the best sisterhood and can’t wait to be back and having little dance parties so soon! Thank you, Phi Mu, for giving me the best friendships and experiences I will cherish forever!”

“Phi Mu is my home away from home, where I have formed such special friendships that I will cherish forever. From Shadrach’s coffee runs to Pinlake Wednesday church, every moment spent with my sisters fills me with so much joy and gratitude. These connections and bonds are everything to me, and make me feel so loved and blessed. I wouldn’t trade these experiences for the world, and I am incredibly thankful for my Phi Mu sisters!”

Hannah Lloyd (PC 23)

“The second I walked into Phi Mu I knew it was my home, but I really did not expect the overwhelming love and support that it has brought me. I have truly met my best friends and I don’t know where I would be without them. Becoming a Phi Mu was one of the biggest blessings and I cannot wait to see what these next two years have in store for me and this sisterhood. I am forever grateful for Phi Mu and every amazing friends it has brought me!"
